Romalı bir arkadaşım paylaşmıştı ben gideceğim zaman:
ROME
1. Nice Breakfast venues to start the day (Metro station: Cavour):
Panella - open air spot if sunny + one of the TOP places in the area for both breakfast and Aperitivo
www.panellaroma.comUrbana47 (better for dinner but nice breakfast)
Morning treats, Jewish Ghetto - must-try: torta visciole & ricotta! >> Check out the fontana tartarughe 5 mts away (in Piazza Mattei)
2. Selected & non-touristy Dinner spots:
Renato e Luisa, via dei Barberi 25 (just AWESOME)
Fish Market (great fish, low prices & informal) - Vicolo della Luce, 2 Trastevere area
Bir & Fud - One of the best eat-in pizza
Casa Coppelle, Piazza delle Coppelle, 49
Felice Testaccio - typical trattoria (need to book in advance - try the Cacio and Pepe - best in the globe) What to try: Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe (MUST) & Pasta Amatriciana. As a second course: Abbacchio al forno con patate :-) Also, try the Tiramisu’!!
They are all very easy to reach (get off at Colosseo Metro station and get any bus stopping in LARGO ARGENTINA - then walk). All streets in Rome are very safe day/night - even if some of them might look narrow and creepy at night - they are actually very typical and safe!
3. On-the-go lunch/coffee spots to try:
Forno BONCI - the best Gourmet Pizza in the planet (pizza al taglio, which means on the go). Just take the Metro A and get off at CIPRO -MUSEI VATICANI (close to St. Peter), walk outside and you’ll find a crowd of people eating :) - read this
[MUST TRY: “Pizza Bianca”, plain, white pizza - excellent + all the others] Forno Campo de Fiori, in Campo de Fiori (closed on Sunday - opening times: 07.30-14.30, 16.45-20.00)
APERITIVO (happy hour - typical Italian treat starting everday at 6 pm till 8-9 pm): try the Monti hipster area in Piazza Madonna de Monti and sorroundings - just outside Cavour station
Supplizio - roman fried street food: Via dei Banchi Vecchi 143 - try the sweet Crema Fritta (fried cream)
Caffe’ S. Eustachio (piazza S. Eustachio) - take the most expensive coffee with double cream
Caffe’ inside the chiostro del bramante (it seems a museum, just enter, skip the ticket queue and go upstairs to the bar - great place to relax!) close Piazza Navona
any coffee place really :)
4. Great Gelato Spots (but this is very subjective and we could discuss for ages on this):
- Fata Morgana - Piazza degli Zingari, 5
- Giolitti - Via degli Uffici del Vicario, 40
- Fior di Luna (if you walk in Trastevere at night...full bodied, intense ice cream!) - Via della Lungaretta, 96
- Fiocco di Neve (Pantheon) - via del Pantheon 51
- etc...
Must in Italian Gelateria: always answer SI’ when asked for PANNA :)
Avoid the following FAKE Gelato shops: Blue Ice and any gelateria with a huge Gelato sign outside - that's a guaranteed tourist trap :)
5. Nice Walks
- Villa Medici (guided tours only but pretty short, open air, amazing view from the gardens) - check tour times:
www.villamedici.it- Ponte Umberto 1: walk on this bridge at night for a nice walk and one of the best views of St Peter
- Giardino degli Aranci
- just get lost in the streets and you'll love it :)
EATALY >> place for food shopping :)
